Burberry is a British luxury brand, founded in 1856 by 21-year-old Thomas Burberry. In the 170 year history of the brand, there have been several key moments worthy of highlighting. Firstly, the invention of "gabardine" in 1879, a breathable, water-resistant, and durable fabric made from tightly woven, pre-waterproofed yarn. Next up is the invention of the "Trench Coat", which came about in WW1, when Burberry was commissioned by the British War Office to adapt its functional officer coats. Lastly, during the 1920s, the signature Burberry Check pattern was introduced and later trademarked; it is still an icon of the brand, used to this day. This exceptional reversible jacket is a vintage piece from the Japanese arm of the brand. Made using two layers of fine wool, one plain and one check. Showing off the brand's tailoring heritage, this jacket features a two-piece raglan sleeve, large front pockets and a button front closure on both sides. A classic piece from an iconic House.
