A beautiful vintage hand-thrown stoneware covered storage jar / canister from the historic Kakanui Pottery studio near Oamaru. The piece features a robust, wheel-thrown form finished in a rich, multi-toned olive-green and charcoal reduction glaze. It is highlighted by beautiful wax-resist spotting that allows warm golden-brown tones to burst through. The underside of the unglazed base is hand-inscribed in script "Kakanui Pottery".
