A rare and remarkably complete mid-century modernist bedroom suite, distinguished by sculptural asymmetry, opposing tapered forms and a rich, high-gloss decorative woodgrain laminate. Comprising an asymmetrical dressing table/vanity incorporating one four-drawer lowboy, a matching freestanding four-drawer lowboy, and a full-width bedhead featuring two original reading lights and incorporating two single-drawer bedside tables. Also featuring a large shaped mirror with adjustable height and angle, an etched mirrored drop-front and an integrated dressing/vanity recess. The vanity is the sculptural focal point. Centred around its mirror, the design extends asymmetrically in opposing directions: the integrated lowboy progressively deepens towards the right, while the suspended vanity drawer deepens towards the left. These opposing tapers create a striking angular footprint and sense of movement while remaining visually balanced around the mirror. Features include gold-tone trim, tapered legs with metal ferrules, original hardware and dovetail-jointed drawers. The etched mirrored front folds down to reveal the integrated vanity recess. This appears originally to have included a mirrored-glass base and clear glass top; these are absent, and the base is currently lined with black paper. The integrated bedhead attaches to a compatible bed frame via two adjustable mounting struts. The 1560 mm space between the bedside tables suits a standard double or queen bed.
