Description • Premium Horween Ink (navy) chromexcel leather upper • White derby toe cap design & construction • Fully leather lined including insole • Durable sidewall stitched sole unit • Premium waxed cotton laces The Abington is a handmade premium sneaker with derby construction and a leather toe cap design that draws inspiration from vintage baseball and basketball footwear. Double stitched at pressure points for added strength, all stitching to the upper is otherwise hidden throughout and finished with subtle blind eyelet lacing and a soft padded collar. Fully lined with luxuriously soft natural leather, complete with extremely comfortable hand-finished Crown Northampton insoles. The custom-made sole unit offers strength, durability, and comfort all in a lightweight base which is then securely attached with sidewall stitching, allowing for resoling in our factory at a later date if required. Further details include a Crown embossed padded tongue, premium waxed laces and handwritten internal style notes. Horween leathers are quite firm on first wear, but then break in gradually, softening and moulding to the wearer's foot to create the perfect fit. Horween chromexcel leather has a soft and smooth handle, restoring itself when marked. It also has extreme longevity and wears in over time, creating beautifully unique patinas. I take a US woman's size 9 and these unisex sneakers fit but are just slightly too short in length for my preference. The "wide" width is moderate - I would say average to wide.
