We discovered it is Mouton fur as someone contacted me after seeing this who had one as a child in the USSR so the origin is confirmed :) Lovely and thick, and very soft, rich black Mouton lambs fur coat with slit pockets. Coat is fully lined with a genuine Russian tag . Amazing piece of history and extremely well made! *Mouton fur is sheepskin which has been processed to resemble beaver or seal fur (mouton is French for “sheep”). Mouton fur is lambskin whose hair has been straightened, chemically treated, and thermally set to produce a moisture-repellent finish.
